Profluent is back on production duty for more heat from the 90s Flow camp as Chox-Mak and DJ YRS Jerzy collaborate with Royce Rizzy and King Mez on “Sacrifices”. Rizzy is based in Atlanta and recently penned a deal with RCA Records, where he’ll enjoy the management of Jermaine Dupree. “Sacrifices” sees fellow up and comers Chox-Mak and King Mez brought in to share their own unique brand of storytelling on a beat which melds deep kicks and snares with a haunting vocal snippet. Anchored by a timeless sample, this beat comes courtesy of Profluent, who heads the Fleet DJs coalition.
King Mez operates under J.Cole’s Dreamville, so Chox-Mak was sure to step up to the growing expectations brought on by working with increasingly big names, executing a vintage verse to close off the meticulous tune. The challenge of ticking all the boxes becomes harder every day as hip hop expands into new subgenres constantly, so it’s reassuring to know that independent rap has a bright future with young artists who are determined to keep alive the original art form of laying clever lyrics on contagious arrangements.
