Sometimes music can truly overwhelm me. As that may seem like a negative comment, it is entirely positive, seeing as I listen to an unhealthy dose of music everyday, and I can confidently tell you not everything is that compelling. I look for new trends, quality styles, and pure talent, and sometimes I find myself intrigued by something entirely new.
I've been reporting the recent drops of "groovy god" Beau Young Prince, beginning back in July with his collaborative joint "Say My Name" featuring producer Hounded. Then I brought you a video debut for "Smoke a Blunt", a track that ultimately reminded me of personal favorite GoldLink. It was the initial announcement of the full project The Groovy God, thankfully dropping here exclusively on EARMILK this evening.
To no surprise, just like the previous tracks, the full project is as different as Beau's wardrobe, reflecting his experimental and eccentric nature. Besides the smooth choice of lyrics and rhyme scheme, the production value of this tape is truly priceless. It's extremely rare to find a hip-hop project with this much complexity and definition.
