For a while, it seemed hip-hop was heading down a repetitive road. Throughout the early 2000s, styles didn't sway too far from the norm, usually implementing the same tactics and strategies. Recently, more than ever, we're beginning to see rappers branch out to much more unique and indie-like personas and styles.
Today I have a track Dewy Sinatra, an emotional young artist who has spent his time experimenting with production elements and mixed origins. While his music lies deeply within hip-hop, you can hear the merger of electronic influences in his latest Wasted Youth EP, out on September 1. The EP focuses on the young Londoner’s “late night thinking” and “searching for that higher love… chasing faith.” Dewy captures a sonic representation of how contradicting emotions can be, while keeping it vocally intimate throughout.
