The ability to deliver truly dark hip hop that doesn’t feel forced is a skill that only a short list of rappers have. Newcomer DP has dropped an eerie track that sees him take a shot at balancing the unholy grail of sinister music with urban credibility. “Glass Casket” is a release from his upcoming mixtape of a similarly themed mixtape Designer Casket, and despite running at a short 2:30 minutes, it crams in plenty of spook, gloom and stoic lyricism. DP’s already been endorsed by fellow Virginia Beach native Pusha T and it’s easy to see how the 20 year old caught the G.O.O.D Music titan’s ear with raw wordplay and brooding production. Brooklyn Taylor put together the quirky beat for the last Designer Casket leak “Jabar”, and this time Sir Yogaflame takes credit for building the frame of “Glass Casket” before DP occupies it with deadly vocals.
“Upon birth I put that gloc to the doctor, told her take me to the pharmacy, I need Percocets and oxies to distribute to the drugged out mommas. I need a profit, gotta cop that Megatron, fast forward 10 years I need to cop a fire arm.”
