Yeezus just rose again. After keeping relatively quiet about the fact his seminal College Dropout record reached its 10th year as one of the biggest and most impactful hip hop albums in history, Kanye West is back with a surprise remix of Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s huge hit “Drunk In Love”. We brought you Future’s soft remix of the power couple’s duet a couple weeks ago but the already very popular track has now reached the level that the currently touring Kanye obviously felt obliged to jump on it, much like he did with Rihanna’s “Diamonds” in his instantly classic verse. His take on “Drunk In Love” is equally valuable and continues where his Yeezus album left off as far as overtly sexual lyrics are concerned, but Kanye’s tone is definitely more playful and relaxed this time around. It’s very possible that Yeezy’s baby momma Kim K gets some more exposure in his quirky, freaky verse too.
“I don’t know the way you do it but you do it to me though, and you always tell your girlfriends you need you a TV show. Now you got your own money, you don’t need nobody else, but far as hell and all that ass, I think you gon’ need some help”
Amongst Kanye’s reminders to his muse/fiancé that she’s got a great future behind her, he goes on to describe how their exploits damage upholstery. This short but sweet Valentines gift from Mr. West to Kim and his fans is rounded off by a reminder for better or worst to their love fest music video for “Bound 2” with an allusion to Kim being on that bike. A Kanye remix is always a treat but this one reminds us of how deliberately funny the guy can be.
