When you hear the word producer nowadays the first thing that comes to mind is, "which mode of electronic will we hear now?" However, there still exists a massive community of solely hip hop producers who revolve their sounds around word of mouth and organic respect. One of the up and coming producer's in this community goes by the moniker J1k and hails from Maryland, the original stomping grounds of Visionary Music Group's lead man Logic.
J1K has been releasing a commodity of remixes as a strategy to promote his upcoming release of his debut instrumental album Walk to Nowhere. Today we are handed an edit of every hip hop head's go to classic, "Put it On" by the late great Big L. J adds a mellower side to the originally fast paced track, implementing his signature style in a fashion that serves up an alternate way of experiencing Big L's lyricism.
