Lemâitre – "Continuum" (Fehrplay Remix)

The final instalment of the Relativity series from Norwegian duo Lemâitre earlier this spring was the perfect closing to the three-part release, building on a sound that blends Phoenix-like electro-pop with the funky, distorted basslines of French house. Now, the two have issued a Relativity By Nite remix EP, complete with club mixes and new takes from the original album. One of the standouts from this latest offering comes from fellow countryman Fehrplay, who after a solid emergence in 2013 is now hitting the road with Pryda Friends label mate Jeremy Olander.

This one's a well-executed remix, preserving a good chunk of the original vocals while bringing an understated yet somewhat expected darkness to the track. Still, the 120 BPM pulls Fehrplay into a slower territory than we're used to, where the warbling, progressive bass reminds more of a Maceo Plex style output rather than the man under the wing of Eric Prydz. Still, it coasts along effortlessly, with floating synths creating light enough vibes to rekindle the emotion of the original while adding a brooding atmosphere for listeners.
