After two years of successfully using it to hype the shit out of the normally-motionless audience at his live shows, Shigeto has finally released that weird Waajeed remix that he used to play all the time. Probably the only track Zach has ever made that would qualify as a banger, “Make It Boom” goes extremely dumb in the smartest way possible. It's interesting seeing what amounts to his take on a trap track – tempering Shigeto's penchant for unquanitzed, wonky beats with heavy 808's and club sensibilities, the remix is more of a craft than a piece of art. But, if craft is judged by it's functionality, then “Make It Boom” is craft at its best – I remember seeing him perform the track live, and about half the audience was going ham, while the other half looked completely horrified. The remix is certainly divisive, and certainly a departure from the expected, and certainly a ton of fun.
