When I first was pushed this Grandtheft remix of Keys N Krates single “Treat Me Right” I rolled my eyes. Before pressing play I was anticipating another pseudo-trap remix that essential was the same melody just with high-pitched triplet runs on closed hi-hats and a break-down section laced with “ayes” and “ohs.” I should have know better knowing Grandtheft’s style and knack for stepping away from the ordinary and I am certainly not disappointed with this remix.
Starting off with a simple synth chord progression up the chromatic scale, you can’t even recognize that this is Treat Me Right. As the song starts to build and the melody comes in we are brought back to that original Keys N Krates song when fell in love with. He doesn’t dwell on the familiar too long, before long we are thrust into a tribal jungle bounce sound that implores you to shake your hips and twerk that booty-doo. This remix along with others from Thugli and Lazerdisk Party Sex are are featured on the Treat Me Right EP, released on Dim Mak Records June 11th, you can buy the album on iTunes and Beatport!
