It goes without saying that the landscape of R&B has undergone some drastic changes these past several years. With the aid of a combination of daringly innovative producers and talented vocalists the genres has received a creative new wind, as well as gaining some much-needed artistic traction. Released earlier this year, singer-songwriter Tinashe's debut mixtape, In Case We Die is one of several relatively recent projects that showcases the fusion of contemporary R&B, palatable pop and a hint of indie flair.
It wasn't totally surprising that the promising R&B chanteuse caught the ear of wonder-kid producer XXYYXX which in turn spawned the remix of Tinashe's "Let You Love Me", a track off her debut mixtape. While the remix has been floating around for several weeks now, as any music lover knows good music has no shelf life.
While the original song was more of a progressive, slow-burning R&B track,XXYYXX's rework transforms the song into a seductive and keenly electronic infused edit that incorporates ample vocal chops and effects. As with any good remix, XXYYXX finds a harmonious medium and is able to retain the original song's authentic R&B feel while imparting his own style on the track.
