Today's delivery is brought to you by Battles & Shabazz Palaces. The experimental rock group, known as Battles, released their album, Gloss Drop, early last year. The album featured a pretty unique sound as it brought in somewhat chaotic instrumental sounds all of which were easily tamed by the sheer skill of the individual artists. The end result was a well-crafted and very cohesive sound. Obviously a sound like this had to be tweaked and played with which led to a couple of remix albums. Now, one of the standout reworks was done by the equally experimental sounding group, Shabazz Palaces. Shabazz takes the track "White Electric" and immediately establishes its version with a soul-shaking bass beat, distorted vocals, stream of consciousness flow, and a twangy guitar riff. And, it only evolves from this point as it gives you larger glimpses of the rock-oriented sound the original contains yet taming it down. In the end, you are left with a track that only a group like Shabazz could pull off. Check out the track and chill…
