The genre started in 1957 when Martin Denny released an album called Exotica which spawned a whole new type of music that involves sexy tropical island drums, animal sounds and a lounge feel. This is about the time the whole tiki craze started. A lot of real islanders were upset because this genre was nothing like the tropical environments at all but nonetheless I'm a fan of the genre. Today's song is also actually called "Exotica" and its from the album Forbidden Island.
