On Wednesday afternoon, Grammy-nominated artist Tyler the Creator went to his social media accounts to share a clip from what looks like to be new music. After Sony's most recent financial report on April 26th stated that the artist may have new music to be released before June 30th, the cover was blown and fans now expect music before the summer. The rapper, producer, designer, and entrepreneur has not released music since his Christmas EP Music Inspired by Illumination & Dr. Seuss' The Grinch.

Though the upcoming project is unnamed, the California 28-year old has yet confirmed or deny the existence of any new album. In this snippet, 18 different Tylers stand and stare in one mesmerized direction to a gritty and harsh synth note. The video continues for about 20 seconds until one of the Tylers begins to bop his head as a boom bap drum beat interrupts the trance that begins to insist.
Tyler, the Creator is coming off of a career mountain top with his critically acclaimed line of work including his latest album Flower Boy and his colorful clothing line releases with Golf Wang. Flower Boy was his fourth studio album and received a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album. As of late, Tyler performed a small set at the first annual Something in the Water Festival in Virginia Beach. He was also recently spotted celebrating the release of fellow West coast rapper, Schoolboy Q's newest album, CrasH Talk at his release party.
In March, Tyler and Golf Wang collaborated with the Japanese brand, retaW on a new candled release tagged COLDWATER. The artist is also being featured on Webby Award nominated podcast, Dissect Podcast, where for an entire season, host Cole Cuchna will forensically dissect Flower Boy while thoroughly breaking down Tyler's artistic meaning and career.
Whether collaborating on $4o dollar Japanese candles, running an annual music festival and carnival, or remaking the theme song for the latest telling of the Dr. Seuss story, The Grinch, anything he puts his hands to is known to be unconventional and innovative. As far as solo music goes, this may very well be the beginning of the next era for Tyler, the Creator.
The short clip ends with an anonymous voice that sings, "he's coming".
Let's hope this means we're getting some more music by the end of the second quarter.
