On April 22nd, Red Bull TV will premiere their newest series called The Cut, where hip-hop multi-platinum record producer and DJ, OG Parker hosts a song-creating competition that puts 18 unsigned songwriters and producers together who have never met. On the line is a Red Bull Songs publishing deal and the winning producer receiving recording time in the Red Bull Music Studio in Los Angeles.
Representing Atlanta, industry titan OG Parker has worked with a handful of hit-making artists like Katy Perry, The Migos, and Chris Brown. What separates this show from the rest of tv's music competition shows, is the time restraint. The catch is, once you are tagged with your songwriter/producer, you are tasked with creating an original hip hop track from scratch in just 10 hours.
The Cut will exclusively be on Red Bull TV. They will be dropping a season of four 30-minute digestible episodes. In March, the first installment of The Cut was released in the UK and hosted by BBC Radio 1Xtra’s Tiffany Calver.
For the US installment, the cast will consist of the following 18 acts: Adonis The Greek, Charlie Shuffler, Cryssy Bandz, Desta Dawn, Errol Bangz, Jeleel!, Jermaine Elliott, Jess Carp, Jon Swaii, Kid Lennon, Mother Wata, Ramii, Relaye, Ta$ha Catour, Versus.XX, Xian Bell, Ye Ali, Zil.
“I am incredibly impressed with the high level of creativity and originality that stemmed from this dynamic group,” said OG Parker, host of Red Bull’s The Cut. “The dedication and musical growth of everyone this season was unparalleled, and Red Bull and I are proud to give wings to these talented artists.”
After the series drops, the original music created during the competition will actually all be available on all digital streaming services including Spotify.
Red Bull is passionate about giving wings for aspiring creatives and this is a crucial opportunity for the next hot hip hop producer or songwriter. The Cut will air at 10 AM PST on Wednesday.
