Legendary Outkast rapper André 3000 is taking a bold new direction with his latest project, the critically acclaimed instrumental album "New Blue Sun." After nearly two decades away from solo releases, André returns with a stunningly innovative and introspective piece that defies genre and pushes the boundaries of his own artistic expression.
"New Blue Sun" is a departure from André's past work, showcasing his musical exploration beyond hip-hop. Instead of spitting rhymes, André takes center stage with his flute, weaving hypnotic melodies alongside a talented ensemble of musicians. The album is a captivating journey through improvisation and experimentation, revealing a raw and vulnerable side of the artist rarely seen before.
The creation of "New Blue Sun" was as organic as the music itself. A chance encounter at a Los Angeles health food store led André to connect with percussionist Carlos Niño, sparking a musical collaboration that blossomed into the album. Joined by a group of gifted musicians, including keyboardist Surya Botofasina and guitarist Nate Mercereau, the team embraced improvisation, letting the music flow freely without preconceived notions or expectations.
To celebrate the release of "New Blue Sun" and connect with fans on a deeper level, André 3000 is embarking on a series of intimate live shows. The tour kicks off on January 29th in Brooklyn, NY, followed by a three-night residency at the legendary Blue Note Jazz Club in Manhattan. Fans across the country can experience the magic of "New Blue Sun" live as André and his band make stops in Detroit, Chicago, Atlanta, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.
