One of dance music’s most exciting names in recent times, Anastasia Kristensen, has announced her highly anticipated forthcoming EP, Volshebno. Due for release on the 10th of September, via London’s iconic Houndstooth label. If her last release on Houndstooth — Maxima — is anything to go by, then this is definitely one worth getting excited for.
Denmark’s rising star in the techno scene, Kristensen’s sound cannot be singled down to just one genre. Contemporary, exciting and eclectic, Kristensen’s productions (and mixes) set her apart from the rest. Whilst her name might first be associated with techno, her taste varies far beyond this; something which is clearly reflected in Volshebno — the Russian word for magical. For a more extensive delve into Kristensen's sound, a blistering new mix for Dekmantel takes us through the motions, offering a small insight into what the DJ and producer is about.
Teasing the EP with a mini-series of remixes from equally exciting names, including KETTAMA, Ctrls, and quest?onmarq, Volshebno’s mysteriousness is only intensified. With the remixes taking influences from jungle, breaks, UK techno and beyond, it’s impossible to imagine what’s to come from Kristensen herself. Whatever it is, we have no doubts it’s going to be exactly as magical as the name might suggest.
