Mark Knight has made his intentions clear since jumping into the house music game in 2001. Since then, he's made an indelible imprint on the direction of house music, creating a haven for tech house and house producers at his Toolroom Records. Recently he announced a short film that also conveys his commitment to music and curation – Odyssey – enlisting other contemporaries and detailing out the love of a true DJ to his crafting of an extended performance. On the heels of this and a US tour hitting New York's Output this weekend, the UK industry veteran joined Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1 for a special Essential Mix. And while it can be argued that taking the helm at any Essential Mix is a milestone, this one was more meaningful to Knight as he took a journey through the music that has made him who he is throughout his career:
