"Employee of the Month" is Motown Priest's unapologetic and thought-provoking look at the American Dream. The emerging rapper has set his sights on the big leagues as he blends his musicianship with visual arts. With an album out now, Priest gives listeners a graphic look at the core of the problem plaguing society and how deep-rooted it is in capitalism. The Queens by-way-of Detroit rapper deftly describes the system as an agent of chaos. He also uniquely ties everyone’s struggle together, which makes his storytelling all the more impactful.
Over a moody and somewhat dark backdrop, he quips, "With pawns trying to be Bishops but Pac from Juice is out here/Stressing, sweating more than locker rooms when I'm out here" and reminds us that it's a dog eat dog out here.
"Employee of the Month" can be streamed now through your preferred streaming platform with Priest’s new album, Hawthorne, available now on green vinyl through Get On Down. The digital release is set to drop next Friday, April 14th, courtesy of O’s Circle in partnership with Brick Records. A short film of the same title—which serves as Priest’s directorial debut—is set to drop the following Friday, April 21st, and utilizes several songs from the album as the film’s soundtrack.
