The British artist writes with a down-to-earth honesty, shaped by the place he’s from and the music he loves. You can hear hints of Mac DeMarco, Steve Lacy, and The 1975 in his style, but he uses those influences to build something that feels naturally his, relaxed, melodic, and unpretentious.
After years in a band where he couldn’t fully be himself, Wilson decided to go solo at the end of 2023. Now, with a new “listen to nobody” approach, he writes, performs, and produces a lot of his own material, taking full creative control. That mindset comes through clearly in his new single “Gemini,” a catchy, groove-driven track about the excitement and nerves of letting someone see the real you.
“Gemini” started from a spur-of-the-moment idea while messing around on a friend’s guitar, and the song keeps that loose, spontaneous feel. It blends Wilson’s love of ‘80s artists with more modern inspirations. Produced with Steven Griffiths, the track explores the hidden sides of a person that only show up once a connection deepens, a feeling that’s honest, familiar, and easy to relate to.
