Acclaimed producer TroyBoi has released his most personal body of work to date, ROOTZ, out now on Ultra Records. Known for pushing boundaries with his unique take on trap, bass, and global sound, TroyBoi takes listeners on a journey through his cultural identity with this five-track EP.
Drawing from his Indian heritage, ROOTZ is a heartfelt tribute to the sounds he grew up with, inspired especially by the Bollywood music his mother introduced him to at an early age.
The project features a mix of high-profile collaborations and deeply personal moments. Punjabi legend Jazzy B joins TroyBoi on the vibrant track “Okay,” while Punjabi-Canadian star Amrit Maan brings his signature style to “Masala.”
Indo-Swiss artist BombayMami appears on “Beggin,” adding a modern global twist to the EP’s cross-cultural vision.
One of the standout tracks, “Kabhi,” features a sample from the late Lata Mangeshkar, taken from the classic Bollywood film Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, creating a deeply emotional centerpiece that connects TroyBoi’s music to his family roots.
Rounding out the project is “Kamli,” a solo track that showcases TroyBoi’s signature sound and a trap-inspired beat like no other.
Having built a passionate fanbase in India through multiple sold-out tours, TroyBoi shares, “This project is about staying true to where you come from and sharing those sounds with the world.”
The full EP is out now on all major streaming platforms.
