Queer but alluring, Jean Nipon is a parrot in a room full of elephants. Flaunting a peculiar wing of sounds and fluffing at the dreary feathers that crowd the mainstream. He's not the only one in the flock though, Jean helped nest Institubes and put out a release under the name Teamtendo. Regardless of the label's looming fate, the man has a worthy resume to pull the ropes behind Parisian nightlife with residencies that showcase a knack for diversity from Pink Floyd bootlegs to french touch bangers. His latest stint Girl Complex flies south to a more tropical meridian of house, with trees of lush keys and equatorial percussion. Although the tuned R&B agony in the self titled track does bring the juice to the EP, the B-side "Promises" is sure to brave more needles drops as a blissful breakdown playing to the tune of classic piano stabs can make a house head kink. Worth noting a remix by Night Slugs vagabond Jam City serving up a bass junket ahead of it's time, keep your eye on this truant as his white label is long overdue. Jorge Takei makes an appearance as one half of JTRP, adding a dark colour balance to the work as a whole. To promote the release the forward thinkers behind Ghent label Silverback Recordings have let loose a calming remix from Voltron, a soothing grab considering it plays out like menthols.
