Dublin-based multi-instrumentalist, singer and producer Aaron Corcoran unveils his debut album New Wave Vaudeville, under the moniker of Skinner. A 10-track project inspired by the New York No Wave scene in the late ‘70s/early ‘80s, the experimental album reflects a rambunctious style.
Delivering an expansive blend of No Wave, dance-punk, Latin disco and post-punk genres, the album moves from the lively tones of hypnotic anthem “Sour Milk,” which taps into feeling untethered from reality to the blaring Dublin noise-rock stylings of tracks like “Calling In Sick,” “Tell My Ma,’’ and “When You Live In A Shoe,” the album brims with pure emotion and self-expression underscored by intricate and innovative instrumentation.
Bringing no wave and post-punk musicality together with elements of grunge and alt-rock, Skinner offers up a sonic world that feels intense and elevated all at once.
