Amsterdam Dance Event kicks off 2023 edition with a special collaboration with Rijksmuseum and shares curated program

Taking place across October 18-22nd, this year's edition of Amsterdam Dance Event is confirmed to bring over 2,900 artists to perform and participate in programming over the conference and festival's 5 days at nearly 200 venues. The annual gathering of international electronic music lovers, producers and professionals will descend upon Amsterdam to collaborate, connect, and celebrate for yet another year in the Dutch capitol.

ADE's special collaboration with Rijksmuseum marked this year's opening event, with a three-act theatrical performance entitled "Breathe, Walk, Die" having been brought to life in the iconic bicycle passage under the Rijksmuseum, made possible by the collaboration between the two cultural institutions at the Museum Boijmans van Beuningen. Based on the musical tour composed by DJ upsammy under the direction of creative producer Tom Trago, live sounds by percussionist Valentina Magaletti and a visual interpretation by designer Theun Mosk tied together a dynamic performance that was a centerpiece of ADE opening ceremonies. This initiative also marks ADE’s direction towards becoming a more artistic platform that encourages young musical talent on a broader stage, and emphasizes the cultural value of electronic music.

ADE Pro has been training the worlds' global dance music industry professionals since 1995. The makeup of the audience and panelists range from music professionals, aspiring and established DJs/producers and musicians, tech start-ups brand and marketing managers and even avid fans of dance music and culture. Whether you have meetings at the new ADE Business Hub at Andaz or are viewing a panel at the conference's home base of Felix Meritis, the ADE Pro programming is on the forefront of the latest trends in dance music and supports its professional community.

This year, ADE Pro has their boots on the ground covering and sharing the latest developments about Artificial Intelligence. One of the industry's leading questions in the current landscape revolves around mastering machine learning and AI’s imminent dominance in the music industry. Google Creative Lab and Google DeepMind will bring the tech giant’s experimental creative tools to ADE Pro for a deep discussion and demonstration on how AI will transform human imagination. Other industry players such as AI expert Dr. Martin Clancy and industry veteran Mariana Carr dive into using the tech in live events and booking, and Spinnin’ Records founder Eelko van Kooten and YouTube star Kwebbelkop discuss the next chapter in the creator economy with the inception of AI.

Also new this year, ADE has launched a new startup conference entitled ADE Startups. Out of hundreds of applications, 8 global innovators were selected by ADE's team of music investors to participate in the community year-through. These 8 startups will present their innovative ideas live on stage for a glimpse into the future of music tech innovation. ADE Green's program on Friday continues to play a vital role in pushing environmental consciousness. Artists and institutes including Jayda G, Laidback Luke, Juba, Eli Goldstein, A Greener Future, Julie’s Bicycle, Climate Cleanup Foundation, Mysteryland and the MIT join the program to cover topics such as circular and climate-neutral events, renewable energy, CO2 compensation, social safety in clubs and festivals, mental health and more.

ADE Lab, ADE's education and talent development segment for producers and engineering professionals, provides another offering of in-depth programming for aspiring producers, with highlights this year including esteemed artists and producers such as DVS1, Mama Snake, Reinier Zonneveld, Héctor Oaks & Van Anh and Darude. The curated program is designed to support emerging artists and music professionals in elevating their careers, offering exclusive opportunities for learning and networking.

Stay tuned for upcoming coverage of some of Amsterdam Dance Event's most impressive events, and EARMILK's favorites, for both the daytime conference and nighttime festival programming across this year's edition.
