Lovesick deliver enticing full-length project 'Hoping This Is The End'

Combining the romanticism of new wave with the power and drive of post-punk, while touching upon anything in between, Goolkasian, of The Elevator Drops, and Heather Joy Morgan as two-piece band Lovesick deliver enticing full-length project Hoping This Is The End, blending poetic song writing with vast sonic influences across nine tracks that flow dreamily and leave us with a sense of nostalgia.

With an absent-minded and laid-back vibe brought to life by breezy instrumentals, the album combines a summertime haze with a hardened outlook within a blend of experimental sonics and pendulating emotions.

Opening with the vivid stylings of “Blue Skies of Mars, which comes alive with a reflective but happy melody of hypnotic synths and faded vocals, the album delivers a message of hope and anticipation to begin with. Then comes “Holiday,” slowing things down with an infusion of playful basslines and laid-back pianos to evoke a longing for escapism.

The reverberant bass and echoing vocals of “Nostalgic Blue,” tapes into remembrance and reflection stretching into the vulnerable yet calming feel of "When You Hold Me Down."

Serenity is disrupted as the album moves into a complex rock-infused symphony on “Something's Going On,” making for a refreshing burst of energy that whittles down on the quiet and short interlude “Please Hold.”

A heartfelt confession of loneliness on "This Is Just Another Love Song," tugs at our heart before the anthemic and raw rock sensibilities of "All This Rock & Roll," turns the album on its head again.

This sonic journey of soft melodies and blaring peaks comes to an on a somber note with the haunting "We've Been Down This Road," driving home the explorative and expansive nature of the collection.

Hoping This Is The End is an innovative debut project navigating everything from longing and loneliness to nostalgia and surrender, wrapped up in a seamless blend of genres.
