Rising singer and songwriter Baby Rose made a huge splash in the industry with her 2019 debut EP To Myself. I accidentally discovered that project on SoundCloud and replayed it far more times than I could count. An undeniably talented singer, Baby Rose went on to earn a Grammy Award nomination for her contribution to Dreamville’s ‘Revenge of the Dreamers III’ album, and was also featured on albums from Big KRIT and Matt Martians. With high-profile performances at festivals and tv shows behind her, Baby Rose now returns with a 2 track release. The songs "Fight Club" and "Go" sees the singer back in her element with her brand of retro-infused modern-day bluesy soul. Not the one to rest on her laurels, Baby Rose also provides cinematic visuals for both songs.

“Fight Club” is a mid-tempo love ballad that sees Baby Rose and singer and producer Georgia Anne Muldrow teaming up. The result is a mix of genres from future funk, soul, and blues meshed in the duo's unique manner. Over rousing drum grooves, brooding textures, and layered guitars and pads, Baby Rose reflects on fleeting love and being filled with a spirit urging her to let go. Her distinct vocal drawl really cuts through the mix with its commanding and husky tone while Muldrow adds soft sublime backing vocals to compliment Baby Rose. The visual is purely artistic and captures Baby Rose in her element as she gives a sensual and unapologetic performance. The use of close and fast-cut scenes also adds a nice touch to the way the song builds up.

"Go" continues the fray with its solemn aesthetic and it's built on a crisp guitar arrangement and mellow drum grooves that are all underpinned by Baby Rose's pained melodic runs and heartfelt lyrics. She dwells on the past on this tune and tries to hold on to a love that seems to be slipping away and cries out to the world for some form of hope. Lines like "The Devil’s a liar That tries to divide us Throws fuel on the fire We’re down to the wire Only love can revive us" give listeners a glimpse into her dilemma as we see her fighting for that pure love. The video is built on abstract and relatable motifs that see Baby Rose in different set pieces. From the close-cut car scenes to the dark hallway scene and flipped cuts, viewers are taken through the wringer from Baby Rose's eyes.

Both "Go" and "Fight Club" are part of a new partnership with Secretly Canadian.
