London-based Welsh soul singer/songwriter Nia Wyn is back with a new single "Checkmate," her last single before she drops her debut EP, Magical Thinking. The laidback tune is a somber and soothing piece that dives into the subtle games one might play at the early stages of a new relationship as each one tries to figure the other out. As usual, her unique lilting vocals cut through the kicks and the passionate melodic runs engulf the soft keys and mellow drum grooves laid before her as she runs through the different experiences of learning another's love language. “Checkmate” was produced by edbl, one of the UK’s most prolific producers who help add his jazzy touch to Nia’s raw and evocative lyrical style.
