Mr. SOS starts off the year with his first release titled "Midnight Diaries," a reflective tune that explores the circumstances in which he recorded the song "Rain" on the CunninLynguists album Southernunderground. For those who remember, the song dives into the aftermath of a broken relationship and an unrepentant cheating partner leading to somewhat dire circumstances.
"Midnight Diaries" is produced by Maxamill, who makes use of a somber and multi-layered aesthetic that affords Mr. SOS to share a personal tale while flexing his verbal muscles simultaneously. The soft-voiced rapper takes listeners down memory lane and pours his all as he goes through hard times while keeping a positive mindset. He also adds via email that he used the song to remind himself and listeners that there is always light at the end of the tunnel.
Mr. SOS is a highly respected lyricist and former member of the acclaimed group CunninLynguists. He is also a member of the Atlanta-based group Mighty High Coup and has a number of solo LPs and EPs to his name. His last project was the eleven/eleven collaborative project with the producer Mr. Enok.
