The Gods Planet welcomes Kaspiann and Basis Change to the label, with a four-track split EP released in July. Based in Finland and London respectively, the EP draws on a wide influence of sounds to present a contemporary take on moody warehouse techno.
Kaspiann takes the reigns on the A-side, with “Virgo Cluster” offering a cut of euphoric, borderline trancey techno that locks the listener into a hypnotic groove. Rolling and pacey but equally gentle, “Virgo Cluster” sounds just as mystical as you might imagine. “Heat Seeker” showcases a darker side to Kaspiann’s sound, with a pummelling bassline, sullen synths and electro-inspired sounds making this one for the early hours. Unrelenting from start to end, this is psychedelic techno done right.
The B-side sees Basis Change at the helm, kicking things off with “Asymptote”. Stripped back, percussive and energetic, it’s techno that was built for the last men standing. Lively but relaxed, “Asymptote” offers the perfect alternative for when you’re flagging but don’t want to call it a night. “Cetra” closes things off with a downtempo blend that paints a vivid soundscape. Bursting with emotional synths, gentle broken beats and airy moments, it's perfect to unwind to. Emotional and nostalgic, it brings the EP to a close in the most fitting way.
