Leeds indie rock outfit Talkboy shares “Wrapped In Blue” on January 20, a preview of an EP of the same name due out in February. The sextet is known for their playful style that combines mature songwriting with happy-go-lucky instrumentation. This track is a tight-knit toe-tapping rocker that starts out slow and ripples into a dream-like nostalgia.
Talkboy is Katie Heap (vocals), Calum Juniper (vocals), Tim Malkin (guitar), Charlotte Jones (keys), Tom Sargent (bass), Jake Greenway (drums). The track is produced by Leeds-based producer Lee Smith (The Cribs, Pulled Apart By Horses).
The group’s style is halfway between ‘60s British Rock, and contemporary indie, creating a sound that is uniquely its own, but vaguely familiar, and incredibly comforting. According to Malkin, “Wrapped In Blue” is about coming to the realization there is so much more to get excited about than this blue exterior you’ve been looking at for ages; you just have to be selfless enough to take some time to look closer at stuff other than yourself. The moral of the story is keep the people you care about as close as you can, they’re your ticket out of whatever it is”. Talkboy’s music is not only catchy, but humble and relatable as well. This rising group is about to release their second EP, full of bright and upbeat music that would brighten up your day.
The EP Wrapped In Blue is out February 11 via Come Play With Me / LAB Records.
