Self-proclaimed Coventry's hardest spitter Skatta drops the visuals for his anthemic song "Shutdown," where he delivers nothing but bars. Over DJ K-Dubz's gritty, synth-driven backdrop, the emerging emcee leaves the safety pin off and gives an explosive 2-minute-plus verbal performance where he marks his territory in the game. His style is full of bravado but also doesn't shy away from revealing his past errors to the listener while divulging his experiences and perspectives of life as a go-getter.
The track gets a solid video by Track Record Ent and was shot in several spots including Red Corner Gym in Skatta's stomping grounds in Coventry U.K. The video sure stays true to Skatta's stripped-down, everyday man vibe alongside elements from classic grime videos from the early 2000s. Right from the costume and performance focus shots, we get to see how authentic Skatta is.
The sentiments of "Shutdown" culminate in the display of a young man going through the steps of achieving his goals by actually standing up to his fears. This is also echoed thoroughly with the lines "What can I say? Only what I've been thru. There's two types of people: some say and some do," and we obviously know the young man stands for.
