Collaboration can be challenging in any line of work, particularly in a creative endeavor. Combining diverse energies and influences can cause tension but can also lead to special results. Over the past 18 years, the famed U.K. trio Foreign Beggars has made a career of leaning into their disparate backgrounds to create truly trailblazing music. The three artists Orifice Vulgatron, Metropolis, and DJ Nonames are ready to explore solo careers, though, and and are preparing to release their final album together entitled Matriarchy on December 13. The group is previewing the forthcoming LP with a video for the lead single “Young Kings & Queens,” which finds them returning to their earlier hip-hop sounds and collaborating with Maverick Sabre and Mali Hayes.

Along with the other 11 tracks on Matriarchy, “Young Kings & Queens” is produced by the duo Seemore Beats who deliver a laid back, head-nodding beat with an enticingly stumbling time feel giving just the right amount of edge for the various verses. With words that tastefully celebrate U.K. street culture, Hayes joins for some heavenly hooks and Sabre closes out the single with captivating lyrics that mix singing with spoken word. It’s a timeless track that will make fans nostalgic for the group’s early days while cementing their lasting place in U.K. music culture.

Matriarchy will be out December 13 and features additional guest appearances from Greentea Peng, Black Twang, Jammer, Flowdan, and Liam Bailey.
