Los Angeles native Elle King took the music scene by storm back in 2015 when she released her debut album Love Stuff, which featured "Ex's & Oh's," her first massive radio hit. King's music is made up of notable influences of her time spent in LA, New York, Ohio, and plenty of other international locations. The largest take away from her sound, however, is how heavily influences she has been by rock, blues, and soul music. King took two years to focus on touring and working on new music after her debut album's release, and had only released March 2017's "Wild Love" in that time–that is until today's release of "Shame," a country-rock influenced banger.
King is confident in the opening notes of "Shame," using the upbeat tempo to her advantage to create an atmosphere of attitude and power; a recurring trend in her music. King's vocals effortlessly work the instrumentals of the track, raspy in some areas and more stern and melodic in others. There are moments within the track that carry the weight of jazz influences alongside a consistent funk-filled bassline that we don't often see in pop music, but one that we certainly would like to.
King has yet to mention an album or tour to accompany her return to the music scene, but we're glad to have her back nevertheless.
