Behind the artistry of Damian Lazarus’ Miami Music Week event 'Get Lost'

Get Lost, the 24-hour event spawned by the genius of Damian Lazarus, has yet again blown us away with deeply intelligent design, attention to detail in both music and imaginative expression of the arts, all while contradicting what music in Miami has to offer. The 4 stage 5am-5am small-scale festival occurred this past week at Miami Music Week. The roster was stacked to the brim with over 40 of the leading underground techno artists from around the globe which included &ME, Seth Troxler, the special guest Jamie Jones – all coming together for the same mission: to disassemble the elements of our individual realities to enter a land of the oddly mysterious, beautiful colliding, and awe-inspiring spectacles of the eye and ear, with an inventive exhibition of techno and the damn loudest speakers I’ve heard in a long time. Take a look at the photos below.

Damian’s new endeavor, Wizardry, a project between Damian Lazarus, DJ Tennis, and DJ Three, was a techno collaboration that bent the boundaries of even the best underground techno, with tracks reaching well into 12 minute loops and integrated both darkly intense and magically curious elements. Wizardry was the closing set of Get Lost, which ultimately hinted towards the question, “How the hell did they do that?” With such passionately graceful techno, intricate stage curation, and a crowd that never wanted to stop dancing, it truly did seem like a mystery in Miami.

The stage designs seemed to be a multi-year creative production with intelligent experimentation of the psychedelic arts, with various elements of Tulum jungle aesthetics, all while redefining what Miami Music Week can sound and look like, all while the rest of Miami roamed the streets of South Beach. The event was like nothing I’ve seen before, and I sure hope to see the spectacle again soon. If you haven’t yet, I encourage you to Get Lost.
