Ever since I saw them play for a tiny crowd in Atlanta before their blow-up, I've been a supporter of the duo Lost Kings. So when a remix of their deliciously retro dance-pop ear worm "Don't Call" crossed my path, I couldn't help but give it a spin.
It's a good thing I did, because I discovered HARBER, a talented young producer out of New York City who has recently made waves for remixes of Fountains Of Wayne and The Chainsmokers. EARMILK is proud to premiere HARBER's remix of "Don't Call," which replaces the vintage power rock vibes of the original with a cerebral future twist. Borrowing elements of bass house, hip-hop, trap, and a twist of tribal sonic elements, HARBER sidesteps the parameters of genre on the evocative dance floor heater. The addition of a thick, punishing bass line adds decidedly more depth to the rap breakdown towards the end of the track, and supports the bravado of the vocals throughout.
HARBER is the production moniker of Harry Berman: NYU student by day, multi-instrumentalist and producer by night. I'll be keeping an eye out for HARBER around NYC, and look forward to hearing his eclectic vibe on a dance floor soon.
