Carrying on the tradition of Mafioso rap, Rochester, N.Y.’s own Pounds is on the path to building his own unique take on the sub-genre. His latest effort is the cinematic visual for his song “Francis Ford” taken from his recent release 'Rules and Parameters'. Armed with a gruff, commanding vocal tone and straight to the jugular approach, Pounds provides a stirring, personal look into his hometown over the VHS produced track that sounds like something straight out of a mob movie from the early 90s.
Teaming up with Otto The Director, who provides a befitting aesthetic that aligns with Pounds conflicted take on the matter. Otto captures this with scenes of Pounds contemplating his life as a hustler and as a father, two hats he wears proudly but, again, with severe conflict. It’s for those reasons that when he spits bars like, “The city’s on fire so I gotta vent/ Make it past twenty’s an accomplishment,” you can feel that mental struggle. You can support his project Rules and Parameters through all major digital retailers and streaming services.
