If you've been following the craze that has surrounded Billie Eilish for the past year, you might know she has been gaining an insane amount of momentum. On top of featuring as EARMILK's artist to watch last month, Eilish has sold out her debut tour and been hailed by Billboard as a "pop prodigy" (they're right, FYI). You might also recall that I, along with Tove Lo and Charli XCX, have publicly declared my love for her on Twitter several times. I'm not even remotely embarrassed. So, even if it's wildly important, drop what you're doing and watch the latest Eilish video for "watch".
Combining her love of dance, hip hop, and fashion, the stylistic video drips cool. And so it should – Eilish created the concept herself, after all. Backup dancers sit on cars as a tied-up Eilish perches atop a ladder, the self-aware teen wrestling with versions of her feelings and sides of herself. The song itself is about letting someone go when they're bad for you, and it's as if the half of her acknowledging the need to let go finally triumphs over the side that wishes this person would stay. "Watch" is both artistically beautiful and a spectacle, and Billie Eilish is pop music at its best.
