Uber talented songwriter and producer, Adanna Duru drops her debut EP 'Stardive' after she gave us a sensual visual for her previously released single "Fingertips". The 7 track EP is rich in deep vibrant sounds that spread across pop, 80s funk, future rnb and more. More importantly, her songwriting is on par with her angelic vocals that envelopes the dream-like backdrops provided for her.
Songs like 'Atlantis' and 'Stardive' are about overcoming her depression, and on the self produced 'Tape' she talks about an 8-year obsession with a childhood crush. Other producers on tow include grammy Award-winning duo Wiidope and Dauman Records’ burgeoning producer Nick Jameson, who show up on the 80's funk inspired 'Tony and the atmospheric 'Are You Gonna Call' respectively.
This new EP from Adanna, comes on the back of her 2016 mixtape 'Exhibit A', which birthed breakout single 'Seal It With A Kiss', that was produced by Liam Keegan (Justin Bieber, Sia, Kanye West), and landed in the Music Week commercial pop charts top 20. She has also had previous successes on 'The Voice' at the age of 15, and 'American Idol' where she reached the top 10 when she was 18.
Adanna sums up the EP below.
“Everything I’ve had up until this point is a manifestation of something I told myself at a very young age. I am 20 years old and I have to scramble for everything I currently have in music. I owe a whooping majority of it to my mother. Without her support, I wouldn’t have the luxury of doing any of these things. This EP is just a tiny part of my autobiography. It's raw, it's honest, it's dark, it’s fun, it's me. I’m just really happy with this entire record, and I hope people like it”.
