Chicago’s MFnMelo is your go-to Pivot Gang member for big man raps. Melo was introduced on Pivot Gang's 2013 mixtape, JIMMY. From the glittering intro notes, you can tell this cut was produced by Chicago’s prolific rapper-beatmaker, Saba. "The Giver" is the first single from the West Side native's long awaited debut project, Melodramatics. This single is a hometown celebration, with dreamy vocals from ArchDuke's Jacob Denzel guiding Melo through the introspective verse, recognizing the contrasting elements of the city, invoking pain and fear, while remaining beautiful at its core. Joining them is another buzzing Chi-Town emcee, Femdot, who delivers a first-hand narrative of his ambitions in a city that presents as many challenges as opportunities for young artists.
Along with the single release, MFnMelo was announced as an opener for fellow Pivot Gang member Joseph Chilliams' Henry Church release party event at Schubas in Chicago on 8/28, for which tickets are now on sale here.
Filling in the calendar of what's shaping up to be a busy second half of 2017 for the Pivot Gang crew, MFnMelo's Melodramatics project is set to release in September.
