After ending a long term relationship and going away to London, Sabrina Reitman, a.k.a Abri, was ot planning on falling in love again so quickly. But after her first date, she could not help herself. That is the story behind the debut single, “Tie Me Down,” from her upcoming EP, Wonderlust. A blend of 80’s electronic, modern hip-hop and pop production.

Wonderlust is a compilation of songs with a unique plot line. After her breakup, rather than wallow in heartbreak, Abri's lyrics paint a picture of a girl falling madly in love, and finding pride in her sexuality and identity. She sings:
I was taking a break just to date in case the one came around
I’m usually guarded but I’mma be honest, you’re just what I wanted
Only you can tie me down
Simply planning on going to London to learn more about herself, Abri was surprised by the romance that discovers her. The five tracks detail what it’s like to be in the ambiguous headspace battling between love or lust. The debut song, “Tie Me Down,” is about a date that serves as the pivotal narrative, where a fling suddenly presents itself as something greater.
Based in New York City, Abri inherited traits of storytelling from her background as a Broadway performer from the time she was nine years old. This and musical influences from Michael Jackson, Chaka Khan, and C+C Music Factory, contributed to her strong musical identity.
Abri met friend and collaborator Lea Serres while studying at NYU’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music. The two later met Lexi Todd, and the three women discovered they had a shared love for storytelling. Together they formed SHIMASHIMA, a collective indie-pop label. Serres and Todd collaborated with Abri in the writing, recording and production of Wonderlust.
Abri’s confidence, talent, inner and outer beauty is inspirational through the music she creates. In her artist statement, she says:
You can always expect my hair to be larger than life, my clothes to make a studded-metallic-vibrant statement, and my music to be high stakes. I’m the first one to proudly admit to being a hopeless romantic sap, the first one to dance at a party, and the first one to reach out to you when you need a friend-turned therapist. With my music, I want to seduce you and inspire you to explore your sexuality, your morals, and your ever-evolving identity.
