For anyone following the trap and future bass scenes, it should be established that Coyote Kisses – the duo consisting of Florida native producers Bryce Bresnan and Joe Sussingham – is a perfect example of why you should avoid judging a book by it's cover. Coyote Kisses's music is anything but cheesy and cute (let's disregard their Carly Rae Jepsen remix, I'm trying to make a point here). Over the past five years the duo has been releasing a steady stream of hard-hitting, melodic bass music, including originals such as 2012's excellent "Acid Wolfpack", and more recent trap and future bass tracks like "Sunny Day", "Revive" and "Ferrari." For those not yet familiar with the group, Coyote Kisses is definitely a group to introduce yourself to.
Their most recent release is a melodic trap remix of Golden Feature's excellent house track "No One", featuring the amazingly soulful vocals of Thelma Plum, from their recent XXIV EP. Instead of taking the track in a brighter, sunnier direction like they've done on past remixes, Coyote Kisses explores a darker style, preserving the soulful feel of the original. Drawing us in with beautiful melodies and Thelma Plum's vocals, the remix quickly progresses into a drop consisting of the hard hitting basslines, complex rhythmic textures and excellent vocal manipulation that we're used to hearing from the Florida producers. This darker and more soulful style blends wonderfully with the groups signature sound, and the new direction the group is taking with this remix definitely makes it worth a listen below.
