Moderat is the collaborative effort of Modeselektor and Apparat. Their two styles under their other monikers are widely diverse but together the create this beautiful conglomeration of Berlin techno and dramatic and ambient cinematic approach. Recently the group announced that they will be releasing a new album III, out April 1 via Mute and Monkeytown Records. In addition, the group announced they will be embarking on a full world tour. You can see the tour dates on their site.

In anticipation of the records release the trio debuted the first single, “Reminder.” This track is a bit of a departure from the nature of ii. First and foremost, Apparat’s brooding voice pours over the music bed orchestrated effortlessly, something that only happened a handful of times on the last album. In addition, the group has taken more of a pop-structure verse/chorus approach. The group still flaunts their impeccable musicianship by creating this textured soundscape with layers and intricacies. This is a beautiful teaser to what’s to come with III.
