Australian duo GL had quite a successful first year. After their well-received debut Love Hexagon EP and opening the Australian leg of Chet Faker’s tour, Ella Thompson and Graeme Pogson are ready to release their debut full-length. The first taste, a single called “Number One,” is a sticky sweet pop track featuring layers of analog synths and infectious melodies that sound straight from the 80s. At times it even sounds like something Prince could have written for himself. Between the cosmic synths and snappy beats, it makes for a funky good time. Look for their album out early next year, and GL will also be heading out for a U.S. tour.
