The Chainsmokers flourish in new original "Roses" ft. Rozes

It has been a long journey for the NYC based duo The Chainsmokers. A little over two years ago they released their original, "Erase" with Priyanka Chopra. It was an energetic electro-house track fit for the EDC main stage. This is a sound they would explore for a while with their originals, with songs like "The Rookie," and "Dickin," (which coincidentally would become the foundation for "#SELFIE").

While their originals were invigorating and captivating with every pulsating downbeat, the duo really sparkled in their remixes. From the beginning, the two experimented with a unique style of indie dance, remixing artists like Phoenix or "Around Us" from Sigur Rós frontman Jonsi. This experimentation of fusing indie music, pop structures, and electronic stylings together would soon evolve into what their sound is today. Today, much like their catalog, their sound is wildly-distinguishable yet unclassifiable – because everything their music is can only be described as a Chainsmokers tune.

Yesterday, the duo released their single "Roses" with Philly-based pop singer ROZES. It is an exciting view into the past and the future of this duo. They effortlessly exhibit their ability to hand-pick female vocalists and give them a platform to flourish. They seamlessly blend pop, indie, dance, and trap together to create a sound unique and indicative of their brand. Something new though on the track is the emergence of vocals from half of the duo, Drew, who harmonizes with Rozes in the choruses – and pretty damn well too. It is an intricately crafted fusion that has us more excited than ever to see how this group continues to evolve and dominate the dance music world and beyond.
