Young Brooklyn wordsmith Mehdane (pronounced Meh-Donny) has been working on his craft for the past couple of years now. Since I first stumbled across him when he dropped his first song, "Bag Fries", I've been keeping an eye on his progression and transition as he becomes more accustomed to rapping.
This month we were treated to a new cut from Mehdane, and in my opinion, it's probably his best work to date. "Apartment 2A" see's the Brooklyn born emcee tear up the piano driven beat created by producer Slauson Malone, which sets as the perfect backdrop for him to paint the blank canvas with his words. Taking a more downtempo feel than a lot of the rap music currently in rotation, the jazzy instrumental see's Mehdane's intensity levels build higher and higher making for an engrossing listen. Some slick lyricism and water-like flow's are a couple of key ingredients on this joint, and if the NY rapper can keep this level up, then it's going to be an interesting few months for him!
