Melbourne house isn't the only thing coming out of Australia, a fact proven by Filterkat's latest track, "Panther". Born Jeremy Fells, the dance artist leans toward the funky, electronic French touch sound, which permeates the originals and remixes he has released so far. Many of these can be found for free on his SoundCloud, but today we have the privilege of premiering his newest work for Vicious Bitch, where Filterkat delivers a powerful track that swings far to the heavier side of the genre norm. Punching guitar melodies overtake the song, combining with trilling harpsichord-like melodies that weave between a stomping bass beat. "Panther" is unapologetic in oh-so many ways and comes off as an expertly crafted track that takes me back to the days of Cross. Fitting too, as Filterkat spoke on this track, stating:
"I live for gritty, funky, dirty electro with the intricate melodies and progressions, that guys like Justice, SebastiAn and Boys Noize are so well known for. Theres not enough of that stuff going around these days, so I hope I did the style justice with my Panther EP (pun intended)."
