My last encounter with Toronto native Coleman Hell was with a 70s style track called "Fortress" in which the singer/songwriter proved his worth as a "genreless" talent. Today he released a new track by the name of "2 Heads" and I'm convinced his style is one that will catch on with ease.
When the track was submitted to me, the sender stated, "Not gonna lie- super catchy and it got stuck in my head, can't decide if that's annoying or not." I wasn't bothered by that, I knew it would have instant potential coming from Coleman. They were right, the song is extremely catchy, but in no shape or form is it annoying. As a follow up to his VENA EP and a precursor to his debut full-length project Srry Bout Last Nite, I'm only excited for one of sideways top artists to break out and become a star in 2015.
There aren't many who can master the "blurry" line of genres, but Hell fuses hip-hop, electronic, and pop music in all of his productions. Be on the lookout for more from sideways' artists and keep an even closer eye on Coleman this year.
