Carbon Kevlar is a French electro duo haling from Paris, who joined forces to make music together in 2010 and were brought to light a year later by producing music for a famous French TV show. The main theme of the show, "Coco Shaker", quickly became a hit in France with the single reaching the first position of the French iTunes electro sales and, since then, over 700,000 views on Youtube.
They made themselves a name with over 130BPM heavy electro but seem to expand their musical universe with this new release. Titled Ici & Higher, this EP consists of 3 tracks, starting with "Lil' Death", a slow BPM – zombie movie, apocalypse like – electro anthem. The pression drops quite a bit with the seconds track, "Banshee", a – dirty lyrics – French rap recorded on a heavy trap beat. You'll lose half the fun if not understanding French but the groove's still there. The closing track "Woodsmashin'" starts with a – out the context – piano eventually being crushed to unleash a crazy electro beat.
Three very different tracks but equal in quality even if my personal preference goes to "Lil' Death".
