If you have paid attention to EARMILK long enough, you’ve probably seen Blvck Ceiling pop up from time to time with his own brand of dark electronic. Initially, we were calling it witch house, but he’s progressed into something altogether different. The snappy snares and heavy voltage-regulated synths are intact, but his music is taking on a darker 80s inspired vibe. His newest mix slipped under my radar, but I didn’t want our readers to miss it.
This mix features screwed down, chopped up remixes of Crimes, Grimes, Lady Gaga, and the mysterious Frxxmasons, along with a few others. It’s not “party music”, but it’s great if you’re just driving around, working on something else, or just need something that is overbearing to chill to. Understated remixes that don’t suck are hard to come by, and Blvck Ceiling always manages to do just enough to make it different, without wholly changing the character of the original.
