The time of exaggerated and over-the top divas have come to a close, as more and more female vocalists are finding a bigger role in the indie music scene. Chiara Angelicola, better known as Bird Call, is the songstress behind the suave, grimey sounds made with the efforts of composer and orchestrator Bryan Senti. They hit their stride around a year ago, and are in the homestretch of completing their upcoming debut album Will We Get To Mars?.
Bird Call's style can be defined as electronically-driven experimental pop, as you will find in their first single teaser "Miracle Man". This track is pushed onwards through Angelicola's mystical voice backed by dark synths and effects. Occasionally, you'll hear a harp which gives the tune a slight Lana Del Rey feel. More recently, they came out with a second and more recent single teaser "Phantom Limbs", which sways towards more electro-pop than anything. Of course, they still utilize that consistent grimey romance. They emit a dark, yet highly infectious sound that you will instantly become a fan of and will yearn for more once Will We Get To Mars? has hit the airwaves. These two tracks will hold us off. For now…
