Mashup Monday – We're back again with some of the freshest mashes to start your week off right. These are the mashes that are worth hearing, so stop you're searching and instead settle down at your computer… turn up your speakers… and get ready for that sweet nectar that only EARMILK can give ya. So today has been a wet and dreary day in Chicago. Not always a bad thing, but when you're stuck in an office all day it can make for some tired times. Couple that with this amazingly relaxing mash by Colatron titled "Time and Time Again", then you're just asking to go full narcoleptic and clock out. Combining the astounding composition skills of Hans Zimmer's "Time" (i.e. from Inception) with Chase & Status' "Time" and more specifically the vocals provided by Delilah, Colatron delivers a stunning track. Definitely worthy of many downloads and listens.
With the Olympics having been completed yesterday, Möbius B-Side gives us the unofficial mashup of the 2012 London Games. "With A Little Bit of Gold" is a festive track that has hints of grandeur and dedication courtesy of the trumpets and bugles that makes me feel like I'm listening to the Olympics. Möbius spices it up by adding in some Fort Minor, some The Chemical Brothers, and a hook that drives you to "get a little bit of gold". Transitioning from the Olympics to paradise, I'm digging Jellosea's "The Recipe for Paradise". It has a subtle relaxed sound to it paired with a altered vocal of Coldplay's "Paradise" along with a low bass wobble that gives the track a slight kick. Top it off with some Kendrick Lamar and Dr. Dre, then the title of the track is well earned. Shout out to Lydia from Sunset in the Rearview for the track.
Two final tracks that I want to make special note of are DJ Morgoth's "What You Know About Milk & Honey" as well as Rhythm Scholar's funk remix of various INXS tracks. Morgoth's track utilizes Two Door Cinema Club to absolute perfection, and reminds me of why I love their sound. I haven't heard much, if any, of Beatsteaks but I dug the pairing – simple and fun. Always a good combination. Rhythm Scholar, on the other hand, uses a bunch of different tracks from the same artist – INXS – and mashes them together. If you're into the funky sound that has a very dance-able beat, then this track is definitely for you. It may take you back to the 70s but that's not always a bad thing, and in this case it's certainly not.
